From Hollywood Glamour to the Scandalous Swinging 60s

 

Join us to experience the glamour of Hollywood Musicals before your coffee break, then back to Britain in the swinging sixties as seen through films like "Help" and the "Carry on" series. After lunch, hear about the scandalous Profumo affair with its notorious parties at Cliveden ( seen below) .
 

 

Lecturer Colin Shindler  

 

 
Colin has an active interest in 20th century American and British social and cultural history and pursued a wide-ranging career as a writer and producer in television, radio and motion pictures. His books on British and American Cultural history emphasise  the impact of sport and film on modern society, including Manchester United Ruined My Life (1998) and Manchester City Ruined My Life (2012) - he supports Manchester City. He wrote  screenplays for films including Buster (1988) and worked as a scriptwriter and TV producer  between 1977 and 1996, for shows including Lovejoy, Juliet Bravo and Heartbeat.
